The holiday season can feel a little heavier for a lot of women. I see it happen every year. Even if nothing “big” is happening, there’s something about colder weather, fuller schedules, and extra responsibilities that makes stress and hormones feel a bit more out of rhythm.

Anxiety tends to show up more this time of year too. Feeling on edge, trouble sleeping, tightness in the chest, or just that constant tired but wired feeling. It’s really common, especially for women who already deal with PMS, irregular cycles, mood changes, or general overwhelm.

Acupuncture can help the body settle in a way that feels supportive and grounding, especially when everything around you feels a little more demanding than usual.

How Stress Affects Hormones

When stress builds up, the body shifts into a “high alert” state. Even if you think you’re handling it, the nervous system holds onto it. That can show up as:

  • mood swings

  • changes in sleep

  • heavier or more painful periods

  • bloating

  • increased anxiety

  • irritability

  • fatigue

In Chinese medicine, this looks like the stress response tightening the system. Over time, that tension affects how the body regulates hormones and how the cycle feels throughout the month.

Acupuncture helps break that cycle by calming the nervous system so your body can come back into balance.

How Acupuncture Supports Anxiety and Hormone Balance

Acupuncture encourages the body to shift out of stress mode and into a calmer, more regulated state. During treatment, people often notice their breathing deepen, their shoulders drop, and their mind quiet down.

Some benefits my patients commonly report:

  • less anxiety

  • more stable moods

  • fewer PMS symptoms

  • better sleep

  • reduced tension (especially shoulders and jaw)

  • easier periods

  • a general feeling of being more grounded

By lowering stress, the body has an easier time keeping hormones steady and cycles more predictable.

Why This Matters During the Holidays

This season asks a lot from our minds and bodies. Stress piles up quickly, even in small ways. Many women don’t realize how much it affects them until they’re exhausted, anxious, or feeling more sensitive around their cycle.

This is actually a great time to support your nervous system before the overwhelm starts to take over.

What a Session Feels Like

Sessions are quiet, gentle, and focused on helping your body settle. I work with women who come in with anxiety, hormonal shifts, or stress-related symptoms. Most fall asleep or slip into a deep state of rest during treatment.

Common concerns I support:

  • anxiety

  • PMS and painful periods

  • stress-related headaches

  • trouble sleeping

  • emotional overwhelm

  • irregular cycles

  • jaw and neck tension

  • upper back tension

If your body has been holding everything, acupuncture can give it space to reset.
